Gene Kierman started the band in 2007 and admits to a wide array of influences, everything from the ‘old time’ music of Appalachia to the eclectic sounds of bands like Deerhoof, Sufjan Stevens, Faun Fables and Animal Collective.
The first album ,”Per Mush for Mono” was recorded primarily at home using a Mac Powerbook in 2008. The quality is astonishingly good considering this low-fi setup. A pair of tracks were also recorded at Sound & Motion Studios in Cape Town.
Gene writes the music and lyrics and workshops the final touches with bandmate Julia Merrett.
The lyrics are sometimes intensely personal, other times purely visual and at other times profoundly poetic, but almost always powerful.
A new album is in the works.
